After our traditional cooling solution for normal vaccine and bio-medical equipment, Huayi and Cubigel is now ready for the recent new ULT system, which will be needed to accommodate the big challenges for the COVID-19 vaccines that require strict temperatures of -70°C up to until 24 hours before injected.
As the global leader of the Household and Light commercial cooling compressor, Huayi Group is developing a fully dedicated range of compressors for this purpose under its Cubigel brand. The new compressors range is going to cover a wide range of cooling capacity which is required by the various ULT appliances. Changhong Huayi Compressor CO.Ltd, has recently founded its new product R-D center dedicated to light commercial cooling compressors.
As revealed, this center is located in its subsidiary of Jiaxipera, in Jiaxing oin the Zhejiang province and very close to Shanghai. As this is one of most economically vigorous and innovative areas in China, the center will be able to maintain and attract talents from all over the world and take advantage of the exhibition of relevant information and intelligence in the most cutting-edge technologies.
The newly established R-D center has not only pooled more than 40 highly experienced engineers from all of its three subsidiaries, but is also looking for global talents to further reinforce its capabilities in research and development. The people will be divided into teams dedicated to mechanical, motor, electric parts, control board and application, all of which are highly related to a high performance and reliable light commercial cooling compressor.
Huayi, which acquired Cubigel in 2012 and since then officially entered into the light commercial business from household compressor, has experienced a fast growth over the past 8 years for its light commercial business, and now sustainably being the biggest manufacturer of cooling compressors in the world.
This R-D center specialized in light commercial, together with its sister company dedicated to household products, has shown Huayi's resolute strategy to further develop its business through continuously innovative products.
Huayi Compressor Barcelona is pleased to announce the introduction of the New S range. This new range includes a totally redesigned shell which reduces the noise level up to 5dB(A) and vibration. At the same time we introduce a new range of models with enhanced efficiency, displacement extension up to 38cc and models for R290.
The New S does not affect de compressor height; keeps the electrical connections unchanged, producing only a small variation of the tube connections position for booth, discharge tube and valve adapter. The new configuration is designed to fit into Huayi Compressor Barcelona customer appliances with minimal changes. The single box packaging will remain unchanged. You will find two drawings to compare the new and current configurations.
This improvement will be applied to all our S range compressors. The New S will be available in the market from November 2020 (subject to stock depletion of the current version).
Many vehicles for transportation of goods or recreation, such as trucks, caravans, boats, cars, etc. are often equipped with cooling appliances. The compressors for such mobile applications must be designed to operate from a low voltage DC power supply. These compressors must also be compact in their dimensions, highly reliable and yield high performances.
For this reason, Huayi Compressor Barcelona has introduced a new range of DC compressors. This new range if formed by several models working with R134a and R600a and able to work with DC and AC current. This is Cubigel Compressors®’s answer to the needs of users requiring comfort and reliability in their travelling, either on holidays, at work or in any other circumstance where a DC powered refrigerator is utilized. These compressors are designed to operate silently, efficiently and reliably even up to angles of tilt of 30º, and with a wide range of operating working conditions as they can be used in freezers, refrigerator, coolers and air conditioning.

Huayi Compressor announces the availability of the complete range of multi-refrigerant units for R452A, R448A and R449A for LBP and HMBP aimed to light commercial refrigeration applications.
In accordance to F-gas regulation that will be effective from 1st January 2020, HFCs refrigerants like R404A with a GWP of 2500 or more will be banned in refrigerators and freezers for commercial use.
Cubigel Compressors® units are prepared for the use of refrigerants R452A, R448A and R449A as replacement, moreover, we are anticipating the next step of the F-Gas for the replacement of R134a to be phased out on 2022, the use of refrigerant R513A y R450A in our units.
Based on the test performed by Huayi Compressor Barcelona using the mid-point protocol, R452A showed similar performance to R404A in HMBP conditions and a small decreased performance by around 3% - 8% when tested under LBP conditions.
Huayi Compressor Barcelona has released its position in regards to the alternatives to R404A and R134a. At this moment there are no long-term alternatives to R404A in the market that can meet the F-Gas Regulation after 2022; these new refrigerant blends are only a transitional solution.
The company is committed to natural refrigerants (R290 and R600a) as a long-term solution for light commercial refrigeration. HCs are an environmentally friendly, non-toxic, non-ozone-depleting replacement.

At the end of this year all refrigerants with GWP over 2500 will banned in Europe as the first step of the F-Gas regulation that will be completed in 2021 with the prohibition of refrigerants with a GWP over 150. This leads us to an increase of the use of natural refrigerants in the coming years as they are, from our point of view, the definitive solution. On the other hand this year we have had the definitive approval of the IEC standard that allows using up to 500gr of R600a or R290 in a refrigeration system. These are good news for our industry as this was the last obstacle to expand the use of hydrocarbons. We, at Huayi Group, are prepared for it with a wide product range covering all applications, voltages and different efficiency levels.
During 2019 not only we have extended our range of compressors but we have also expanded our range of condensing units. Following our strategy we have strengthening our position in the condensing units business, where we have developed a new version like the Full Liquid Line and we have expanded our capabilities of customized manufacturing condensing units and complete systems. We want to offer to our customers an integrated solution to their needs and help them to meet the requirements of the new regulations.
Vicente Guilabert, Vice General Manager R + D and QA from Huayi Compressors, gave an interesting presentation at the Tecnofrío’19 Congress that took place in Madrid on October 16 and 17, 2019 that aroused great interest from the light commercial refrigeration sector.
The presentation centered in the impact of the announcement made by the International Electrotechnical Commission last May, which finally approved the new edition of the IEC60335-2-89 standard that, among other things, defines the increase in charge limit for A3 (flammable) refrigerants at 500 gr. from 150 gr., as well as an increase in the charge limit for A2 and A2L (low flammable refrigerants) to 1,200 gr. from 150 gr.
The increasing use of natural refrigerants in commercial applications such as propane (R290) is a priority, not only owing to the need to replace HFC refrigerants, which have a high impact on the environment, but also because R290 is more efficient in terms of performance and energy consumption. Refrigerant propane has no direct contribution to global warming and its energy consumption is between 10% and 15% lower than a similar application with R404A.
